Omnium Manac

I ended the Canada Cup last week in a tie for 13th place after shooting 73 and 71 on the weekend. I just wasn’t able to get it going but grinded out a solid finish. After the round Sunday, I drove over to Ottawa where I spent the next two days. It was a fun event and there is a lot to be learned during 4 round events.

Now I’m back in Quebec, this time south of Quebec City only 20 miles from Maine. It is another 4 round event with a cut after two rounds. Today was the first round and I shot 69, pretty solid on a normal day. However someone else in the morning shot a 62 so I’m a little behind but 3 more days to play good golf.

The course is pretty neat looking and sits on a river which is supposedly notorious for trout fishing. At one point today after a three putt I thought about switching sports and trying my luck on the river but I think I made a good decision.

P.S. My hotel room is roughly the size of two queen beds and is equipped with a 14″ box tv. Didn’t even know those things still existed.
P.S.S. It is VERY hard to find a laundromat around this neck of the woods. Then when you think you’re in the clear, you need loonies not quarters. Then you have to read everything in French. Tough task but I think I have it figured out.

I’ll attach the live scoring again. They are updating it right when we finish our rounds.

Canada Cup

imageimage imageThis week I’ve been up in Victoriaville, Quebec at the Canada Cup. This is my biggest event of the summer with the purse being $176,000 ($30,000 to the winner.)

It’s a different world up here. I played in the pro-am on Wednesday and one member of my group spoke no English while the other two spoke bits and pieces. It’s even tough to go out and eat because everything is written in French. What a cool experience though.

The tournament is taking place Thursday to Sunday so I just finished round 2. I shot even par 72 the first round and was outside the cut line, which would mean if I didn’t play better I would have drove 14 hours essentially for nothing. Quite a lot of pressure when you know you have to play well. I just wanted to get off to a good start in round two this afternoon and I did. I birdied the first hole and didn’t look back, finishing the day shooting -8 64. As of right now, I’m in third and hopefully the last group tomorrow. They say that between 5000-10000 spectators come out to watch the weekend so it should be an incredible experience!

They do live scoring for this event so the link to follow along is: https://ccpt.bluegolf.com/bluegolf/agpq16/event/agpq1626/contest/1/leaderboard.htm

Looking forward to the weekend for sure. Play well or bad, it should be an awesome experience!

8/8/16 Tournament

I just got back from a small one day tournament outside of Hamilton, ON at Mystic Golf Club. I ended up shooting 72 but unfortunately only hit 2 fairways and 6 greens in regulation. On the bright side I did have 21 putts which is pretty spectacular. It definitely wasn’t my best showing but when you’re making a few swing changes golf isn’t an easy game! Ball striking should be an easy fix for two big upcoming tournaments in Quebec later this month!image
